The Museum of Christmas Balls is located in the Creative Multifunctional Facility, which was built on the site of the former Bombshell factory in Milicz. Between 1951 and 2008, it was one of the largest manufactories of glass Christmas tree ornaments in Poland. Around one million baubles were blown annually. Some of them were sold domestically, but as much as 90% of Milicz's production was exported: among others to the USA, Canada, England, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
When the factory halls were abandoned, space was left for history and art, i.e. respect for tradition, the work of human hands and creative minds. In 2013, part of the Creative Multifuction Facility was dedicated to displaying more than 6,000 different Christmas tree ornament designs salvaged from the factory's pattern shop. The museum's mission is to learn about, preserve, bring closer to the present and pass on to future generations the cultural heritage of the Barycz Valley.
Highlighting the richly patterned collection with the colour of the displays awakens imagination, spontaneity and vitality, making the magic of Christmas feel here all year round. In winter, the place takes on a special power. Walking among the multicoloured, illuminated displays, from which extraordinary small works of art sparkle, you experience this special atmosphere with all your senses. Today, school and kindergarten excursions come to the Bomba Museum for Christmas programmes related to the Christmas tradition, and business visitors find here a unique space for Christmas meetings and New Year's banquets.
